This rest stop along I-40 W was the most interesting one I’ve ever been to. The architecture was designed to withstand the gale-force winds that hit the site the entire time I was there. The atrium area was built into a hillside, with special automatic sealing doors to keep the wind and dust out in between entry/exit. Special shelters allowed resting drivers some respite from the wind on their break, but it was still a physically trying experience just to get out of the car and go in the building.
